The 2014-2015 ISIR Guide was released with this announcement. The Guide is an extremely useful tool for financial aid administrators. It provides all the details needed to interpret data contained on the ISIR, to include student application data, results of the NSLDS data matches, reject codes and reasons, etc. If you have a question about the ISIR, you will get the answer in the ISIR Guide.
EA – Posted October 30, 2013 – (Application Processing). Reminder: Submit 2013-2014 SAR and ISIR Corrections by January 13, 2014 in Preparation for 2014-2015 Renewal Reminder Distribution
ED reminds schools that students’ SARs/ISIRs must be updated with correct e-mail addresses by January 13, 2014 in order to be sent the Renewal FAFSA reminder for the coming school year. Students who meet the 2014-2015 FAFSA renewal eligibility requirements will be sent a reminder by e-mail between January 16, 2014 and January 22, 2014. Schools should recall that ED no longer sends paper renewal reminders to reapply for Federal Student Aid (i.e., complete the Renewal FAFSA). Also, for 2014-2015, it is important to note that those students whose 2013-2014 renewal-eligible transaction was created from a Spanish application will receive a Spanish 2014-2015 Renewal Reminder.

The 2014-2015 Federal School Code List of Participating Schools is provided for schools to be able to review the information contained for their own school, as well as to use it as a tool in working with students and other schools in transfer situations. The list is no longer distributed via hard-copy, but only as a PDF or Microsoft Excel (XLS) file. Schools should ensure that their data is kept current in the listing. Any changes needing to be made to your school’s information may be completed via the E-App.

The 2014-2015 SAR Comment Codes and Text Guide is another extremely useful tool of which schools should be mindful. The Guide includes a description of changes to the SAR comments for 2014-2015 and gives the complete text for all 2014-2015 comments. This resource may also be used as a companion to the 2014-2015 EDE Technical Reference which was posted on IFAP on October 23, 2013.
EA – Posted December 2, 2013 – (Application Processing). 2014-2015 FAFSA on the Web Preview Presentation
ED makes the financial aid community aware of the availability of the FAFSA on the Web Preview Presentation for 2014-2015 in this announcement. The Preview Presentation gives information and sample screen shots related to most questions on the 2014-2015 FAFSA on the Web site. The information is presented in a PowerPoint presentation. The presentation is intended to give a detailed look at changes in the “live” version of FAFSA on the Web for 2014-2015 and may be used as a training tool for staff or in high school presentations. The demonstration presentation may be accessed at https://fafsademo.test.ed.gov. (Users must utilize the User ID and password given in the EA.) An Electronic Announcement on December 30, 2013 also informs the community of the availability of the CPS Web Demo System. This includes most of the features of the production versions of the FAA Access to CPS Online (including Return of Title IV Funds). This demo is also accessible at the same site as the one for the FAFSA on the Web preview.

In this announcement ED releases the 2014-2015 Student Aid Eligibility Worksheet that is necessary to be completed by those applicants who report a conviction for possessing or selling illegal drugs on the FAFSA, or when question # 23 is left blank on the FAFSA. The worksheet is available in both English and Spanish versions.
EA – Posted December 20, 2013 – (Application Processing). 2014-2015 Summary of Changes for the Application Processing System Guide
ED’s Federal Student Aid (FSA) gives in this announcement an overview of the changes that were made to the 2014-2015 application processing system. It contains major changes and enhancements to the system, as well as a schedule for processing in 2014-2015. This includes changes made to the FAFSA (paper and on the Web), as well as those made to FAA Access to CPS Online. The Guide further contains information about database matches and edits and communications that are sent to students. Schools should keep in mind that there were major changes in how the FAFSA questions are addressed due to changes in the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), as well as changes to the tax return filing status questions. This Guide’s information is one with which schools will want to be aware.
